As part of the recently launched UNC Chromatin and Epigenetics Program. UNC has now added a new certificate program in Chromatin and Epigenetics that is available to all students working on their Ph.D. degrees at UNC in the biomedical sciences. This certificate program was developed out of the need to better serve the students working in labs across UNC that are studying epigenetics (over 40 faculty). The certificate program aims to provide Ph.D. earning students a more well-rounded training experience in epigenetics and to better prepare them for future careers in the biomedical sciences. It is envisioned that this program will help to further establish UNC as a leading institution in epigenetics research as well as foster more collaborations between faculty across campus.
This effort was spearheaded by Brian Strahl, PhD, professor and vice chair in the UNC Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics and an Oliver Smithies Investigator.
