The Resident Diversity Initiative is a key component of the UNC SOM Faculty Pipeline Initiatives, programs aimed at increasing the number of qualified candidates from under-represented minority populations that serve in faculty leadership positions at UNC.
The visiting student elective is an invaluable experience and opportunity for assessment and evaluation of a candidate’s preparedness and potential for success in the most highly competitive medical specialty training programs. The Larry D. Keith Visiting Student Electives Scholarship serves to supplement the cost of this training opportunity and specifically targets underrepresented medical students and those committed to serving in underserved communities.

Back to Carolina Clinical Sciences Forum provides an opportunity for underrepresented faculty, residents, post-docs, and medical students to network with each other, the Medical School, and the Health Care System’s leadership team. UNC SOM celebrates the accomplishments of the UNC School of Medicine underrepresented alumni, while providing a forum to discuss solutions for creating a more diverse and inclusive environment for all faculty to succeed at Carolina.
The DEI Certificate Program is a new initiative from the SOM Office of Inclusive Excellence in support of the 2019 SOM Strategic Plan to foster an inclusive workplace environment.
