Southeastern Rural Vocational Experiences (S.E.R.V.E.) was created in 2022 supported through the Novant Health, UNC Health, and UNC School of Medicine partnership. The programs are led through the UNC Office of Rural Initiatives (ORI) in collaboration with community partners and schools in Southeastern North Carolina to develop a future healthcare workforce through the exposure and connection of pathways for students. Programs reach students across middle school to undergraduate educational spaces and seek to provide engagement and opportunity for students to explore healthcare careers.

Behind the Stethoscope invites middle and high school students to become healthcare professionals for the day! Students will learn about a healthcare role alongside a healthcare professional and then have the opportunity to role play a healthcare scenario with their classmates.
