UNC Hospitals is a public, academic medical center operated by and for the people of North Carolina. UNC Medical Center consists of the Cancer Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Neurosciences Hospital, and Women’s Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Additionally, UNC Hospitals includes the Hillsborough Campus located in Hillsborough, NC. 

With a staff of more than 7,100 employees (which includes 1,100 medical staff and 780 resident physicians) UNC Hospitals and clinics strive to provide high-quality patient care, to educate health care professionals, to advance research, and to provide community service. 

As a comprehensive stroke center with American Heart Association’s Gold Plus achievement award, we provide an estimated 150 acute stroke interventions annually. Approximately 1,000 patients are admitted to the inpatient neurology service per year, and approximately 2,000 patients on other inpatient services are seen in consultation by the Neurology residents annually.
