UNC Neurosurgeons in Pinehurst evaluate patients within the emergency room facilities at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and assess spine and intracranial injury. Within the outstanding facilities at FirstHealth, many of these patients can be treated on-site, but those with more severe injuries can be quickly transferred by either air or ground to the Level 1 Trauma Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

A partnership with the neurosurgeons in Pinehurst allows immediate on-site evaluation and keeps trauma care close to the patient’s home when appropriate. It also allows access to tertiary care emergency medicine and trauma care in Chapel Hill when needed.
