Brian Strahl, PhD, has been named Interim Chair of the UNC School of Medicine’s Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics effective May 18, 2020. Strahl has served as Vice Chair of the Department since 2016.

Effective August 1, work windows (shifts) will no longer be required in School of Medicine research labs but 50% occupancy and social distancing must still be observed.

Jack Griffith, PhD, is co-author of a PNAS paper that shows the role the XPG protein plays in DNA repair in healthy human cells, as well as how different mutations can translate into different diseases and cancer.
