The UNC SOM’s Rising Star Program’s main goal is to increase diversity among faculty members in the basic sciences, with a specific focus on groups historically minoritized in the basic sciences. As a reminder the deadline is 2/28.

The UNC-CH Biochemistry and Biophysics department moves to establish a Postdoc Working Group with thanks to Kathryn Gunn and Wolfgang Bergmeier. Postdocs and research associates are encouraged to get involved. Meetings are planned quarterly. An inaugural meeting with lunch is planned for March 16th. Please remember to complete the DEI climate survey, which was sent out on February 8th from noreply@surveys.pressganey.com in your inbox. Everyone should have been emailed a personal link. So far, our department has only had a couple of people take it. The SOM is committed to getting this information and they need our help.

The Heels Care Network is a gateway for mental health and wellness resources for everyone on campus: to find a support group, learn strategies for mental health, connect with training and advocacy organizations, or find wellness events on campus. The Heels Care Network also includes support resources for community members who are not doing well and are seeking immediate help.
