Cyberknife for brain tumor treatment - UNC Health
Radiation Oncologist Dr. Colette Shen, Director of the UNC Cyberknife Center, with neuro oncologist Dr. Dominique Higgins.

Treatment of brain tumors is often multi-modality with surgery, radiation and systemic options (such as chemotherapy), used in concert to achieve the best possible outcome. The Department of Neurosurgery is very pleased to partner with UNC’s Department of Radiation Oncology to provide our patients with state-of-the-art treatment.

UNC radiation oncologists have long been national leaders in designing localized radiation treatment plans and they are an invaluable resource for patients undergoing brain tumor therapy. UNC is pleased to be able to offer patients CyberKnife® radiosurgery, TomoTherapy® and conventional conformal fractionated radiation for their brain tumors. Patients treated at UNC with a brain tumor are frequently seen in our multidisciplinary clinic where radiation oncologists along with the neurosurgeon evaluate each patient in order to devise the best treatment strategy.
