Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Services

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians (physiatrists) offer comprehensive care to individuals, including those with musculoskeletal injuries/disorders and sports injuries, with the goal of maximizing function and quality of life. Our board-certified physiatrist, Kevin Carneiro, DO, develops and oversees an individualized care plan for each patient, which is implemented by a team of rehabilitation professionals. He provides treatments such as interventional spine injections, and different types of joint injections, tests such as electrodiagnostic (EMG) studies, and medical care for overuse injuries. Interventions from the rehabilitation team also strive to minimize secondary complications from injury.

Kevin Carneiro, DO, is an assistant professor of Neurosurgery and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, practicing primarily at the UNC Spine Center. He is double-boarded in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as sports medicine. His sub-specialties include musculoskeletal rehabilitation, non-interventional and interventional spine care, arthritis and joint injections, and exercise.
