For students entering into Pharmacology from the MSTP (MD/PhD) Program:

FIRST & SECOND YEARS – Medical School
Students enter the Pharmacology Program at the end of their 2nd year in Medical School
THIRD YEAR (1st year in graduate school)

Summer (after Step 1 Board Exam)

  • Dissertation Research

Fall Semester

  • Elective #1
  • PHCO 701
  • PHCO 732 (Grant Writing)
  • BBSP 710 (Statistics)

Spring Semester

  • Elective #2
  • PHCO 730
  • Doctoral Written Exam Due
  • Doctoral Oral Exam Administered
FOURTH, FIFTH, SIXTH, AND (maybe) SEVENTH YEAR

Fall Semester

  • Dissertation research

Spring Semester

  • Dissertation research
  • Defend Dissertation (at completion of thesis research)
SEVENTH AND EIGHTH (maybe EIGHTH AND NINTH ) YEARS
  • Finish Medical School

 

2 Electives — Any graduate-level 1, 2 or 3-credit course, in any scientific discipline, will satisfy this requirement. Elective courses must total at least 4 credit hours.
