Nominations are open through August 15, 2025, for the Jefferson-Pilot Fellowships in Academic Medicine and the James W. Woods Junior Faculty Award. These prestigious awards aim to recognize and support promising junior faculty within the UNC School of Medicine:

  • Jefferson-Pilot Fellowship: A four-year award totaling $20,000 to support the scholarly endeavors of fixed-term and tenure-track assistant and associate professors (without tenure).
  • James W. Woods Award: A one-year $3,000 award for clinical faculty at the assistant professor level on fixed-term or tenure-track appointments.

Award recipients will be announced by September 26, 2025, and will be invited to present their work during UNC Research Week, taking place October 20–24, 2025. We encourage you to identify and nominate eligible faculty who exemplify the excellence these awards are designed to support.
