The UNC Health Center for Excellence is seeking an exceptional physician leader with subject matter expertise in clinical quality improvement to serve as the Medical Director for the Institute for Healthcare Quality Improvement (IHQI).
This role, which will provide a minimum of 20% salary support, is ideal for a dynamic and collaborative individual who is passionate about advancing healthcare quality across the UNC Health System.
The Medical Director oversees Institute strategy, operational planning and execution. This role develops and nurtures strategic relationships with UNC School of Medicine departments leaders and UNC Health quality leaders. They will mentor and teach clinical improvement science to IHQI program participants, IHQI Associate Director/Faculty Improvement Coaches, and IHQI teammates.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee Institute planning, operations, and evaluation including strategy, program design, budget, human resources, and communication.

Oversee and guide IHQI Associate Director/Faculty Improvement Coaches in their roles to evaluate Improvement Scholars’ and Fellows’ professional development needs and coach and guide scholars to develop leadership capacity to lead clinical improvement.

Participate in and teach at Improvement Scholars’ learning sessions, PEQS and CLQS.

Host annual IHQI Improvement Scholars Symposium.

Working closely with IHQI quality leaders, lead monthly program planning and evaluation meetings with Associate Directors/Faculty Coaches and IHQI teammates.
