Our Mission

Flourish strives to equip low-income individuals and families with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to eat well. Our hope is that through cooking and nutrition classes as well as individualized wellness coaching, Flourish participants learn to incorporate healthy eating into their lives. As they serve their community, student volunteers will see first-hand the challenges many individuals face in making healthy choices and will develop a greater level of understanding and knowledge that they can use to help others as future physicians, nutritionists, nurses, and more.

About Us

Student Health Action Coalition SHAC is our parent organization, and we are teaming up to provide quite a few nifty services, including a Food and Cleaning Supplies Drive, a nutrition education table in the SHAC waiting room on Wednesday evenings, individual nutrition counseling, and motivational and informative food-centric text messages to patients.

With the help of many local organizations, we launched our first ever Food and Cleaning Supplies Drive last year! We collected healthy food donations and various health supplies (masks, hand sanitizer, soaps, etc.), which has helped numerous patients during the pandemic, specifically between July and December 2020. We distributed approximately 1,950 lbs of non-perishable food and 1,500 lbs of produce along with 80 boxes of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program combo boxes. Additionally, while adhering to public health guidelines, we prepared and packaged to-go meals for more than 80 people and served several guests at the SECU Family House during Fall 2020.
