The UNC School of Medicine convened a Working Forward Space Optimization Committee to assess issues related to space and develop guidelines, tools and resources to enable the School to be more transparent and efficient with space use.

The Space Assignment and Utilization Subcommittee was charged with exploring the SOM space assignment and allocation landscape and developed an SOM Space Guidelines document as a resource to outline key guiding principles, roles, processes, and references that summarize the SOM policy on space assignments and use.

The draft document was shared with SOM chairs and center directors for input and approved by the SOM Academic Council.

The document can be found on the SOM intranet here as a reference for units and their faculty and staff to support the efficient use of the valuable and limited space available across the SOM.

Please direct questions about the guidelines to Jennifer Brennan, PhD, and Cam Enarson, MD, MBA.
