Heather Tarantino, MD, has been named the UNC School of Medicine’s associate dean of curricular affairs. She will begin her work in the role on July 10.

As the associate dean of curricular affairs, she will oversee all educational activities in the Office of Medical Student Education, ensure all phases of the curriculum and program evaluation are aligned with accreditation standards, work collaboratively with leadership and educators across all regional campuses and sites, and more.

Tarantino is joining the School of Medicine from her most recent role as Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s clinical regional campus assistant dean and an associate professor with the Department of Internal Medicine.

She completed her undergraduate and medical school training at West Virginia University’s School of Medicine. Her academic and clinical interests include curriculum design and assessment, comparability across regional campuses and sites, educational equity, and care for the underserved and marginalized.
