The UNC School of Medicine encourages faculty participation in professional development endeavors. Applications will open in early August for the following:

  1. The AAMC Mid-Career Minority Faculty Leadership Seminar, September 27-29, 2023 in Washington DC is designed for Associate Professors underrepresented in medicine who aspire to leadership positions. Programming will include small group mentoring sessions, a CV workshop for career development planning, communication workshops and networking opportunities.
  2. The AAMC Mid-Career Women Faculty Leadership Development Seminar, December 5-7, 2023 in Atlanta, GA is designed for women who have held the rank of Associate Professor at least two years and are actively seeking promotion and advancement. Curriculum will cover topics such as persuasive communication and strategic career planning.

Interested faculty should apply directly to the AAMC program and consider doing so early.

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development has funds set aside to support faculty participation in these programs. Once registered for the program with the AAMC, faculty can apply for a grant from FALD. Contact facultyaffairs@med.unc.edu for more information.
