Based on recent increases in COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate in the community, starting Friday, Sept. 15, all teammates providing direct patient care at UNC Hospitals and its clinics, and at UNC Faculty Physicians clinics, will be required to wear a mask while providing direct patient care. Masks will remain strongly recommended for patients and visitors.

This change is important in order to ensure the safety of our teammates and patients. Our COVID test positivity rate is >13.8% for the past week, a large jump from <5% in June 2023. We are hopeful that COVID activity decreases soon, so these enhanced measures are no longer needed.

As a reminder, UNC Hospitals employees should not report to work if you are sick! To self-screen, self-report or self-schedule a COVID test, UNC Hospitals teammates can use the Occupational Health Self-Screening and Self-Reporting tool.
