First Gen Fellows is a program for UNC School of Medicine medical students who were the first in their families to attend college. These students have limited outlets of support from individuals who can relate to specific challenges and barriers faced in navigating medical education.

We are looking for UNC-Chapel Hill residents and faculty members who were also the first in their families to attend college or who are interested in mentoring current First Gen Fellows. This is meant to be a flexible commitment that involves meeting a few times per year in person or virtually at your convenience. It is a valuable opportunity to highlight mentorship experience on resident and fellow CVs.

If you are interested in serving as a mentor or have any questions, please reach out to First Gen Fellow Faculty Advisor Tiffany Long, MD.
