Tonya Jenkins has been named senior executive director of research administration for the UNC School of Medicine. She will begin her work in the role on Feb. 19.

In this role, Jenkins will create and oversee the new School of Medicine Sponsored Projects Administration Office, which will bolster the research functions of all SOM departments and centers, with an important focus on grant submission management, research contract management, engagement with external organizations, and more to advance the SOM research mission. She also will advise SOM leaders on research policy and regulatory requirements.

She joins the SOM from her current position as Emory University’s associate vice president for research administration services. Prior to her work at Emory, she served as the director of finance and research administration in UNC-Chapel Hill’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.
