Dr. Tom Ivester, MD, MPH, will serve as Interim Chief Quality Officer and Dr. Jenny Boyd, MD, will serve as Interim Chief Medical Officer through early 2025. In July, UNC Health announced Dr. Peggy P. McNaull, MD, as the system’s next System Chief Medical and Quality Officer following the news of the retirement of Dr. Tony Lindsey, MD. Dr. McNaull will begin her work on December 30.
Dr. Ivester is a Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the UNC School of Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor of Maternal and Child Health in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. He also serves as Chief Quality Officer for UNC Hospitals, with oversight of quality strategy and operations. He previously served as UNC Hospitals’ Chief Medical Officer and Vice President for Medical Affairs. His earlier work has focused on improving health systems in developing countries toward improved survival of mothers and infants.
Dr. Boyd is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the UNC School of Medicine and Associate Chief Medical Officer of Medical Staff Services. In her current roles, she is responsible for the oversight of credentialing, privileges and professional practice of all active medical staff of UNC Hospitals. She also serves as Service Line Director of Pediatric Critical Care at UNC and leads quality improvement projects that include reducing hospital acquired conditions and more.
