In honor of next week’s International Coaching Week, we’re proud to celebrate our One UNC Health Coaching Program!

Did you know our program is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and:

  • Eighty-eight teammates are certified professional coaches and serve as Develop Me Leadership Coaches at owned entities across the system.
  • Teammates at all levels of the organization can request a Develop Me Leadership Coach.

What is Leadership Coaching?

At UNC Health, leadership coaching comes from the perspective that every teammate is a leader; we are all leading collectively within our teams and leading ourselves. This perspective aligns with our organizational value of Leading the Way.

Leadership coaching is an experiential process that involves a confidential partnership between a leadership coach and YOU. It is a thought-provoking and creative process designed to maximize your potential and address your specific personal and professional goals.

What ONE UNC Health teammates say about their coaching experience:

  • Overall: “My coach was an impartial ear who would listen to me process professional frustrations and coach me to move forward in a way that is healthy and productive for me personally and for my areas of responsibility. The coaching support was invaluable.”
  • Communication and Listening Skills: “Helped me improve my communication and collaboration with supervisors.”
  • Self Confidence: “I felt lost and listless in my current role in the organization. Coaching helped me reaffirm what is important to me in my role.”
  • Self-Awareness/Self Reflection: “Coaching has helped me to do self-reflection and advocate for myself.”
  • Personal Energy/Optimism: “I was becoming discouraged and began to question my work. Through coaching, my outlook changed for the positive.”
  • Resilience: “Gave me a much better sense of how I can best contribute as a leader. Helped me navigate some very thorny and frustrating situations and transitions.”
  • Strengths Development: “Because of my coaching sessions, I think more about my approach to problems in terms of my strengths than my weaknesses. It has been valuable to address real time issues and prepare for planned interactions.”
