Nominations are currently being accepted for the 3rd annual Medical Staff Physician Excellence Committee (MSPEC) Award for Physician Excellence in Clinical Care.
Any physician on the UNC Hospitals active medical staff, including UNC School of Medicine clinical faculty, is eligible for nomination.
Nominees will be selected based on the following attributes:
- Unwavering personal commitment to treating patients with compassion and respect.
- Ongoing service as a staunch advocate for maintaining clinical excellence including the highest standards of patient safety, satisfaction, and wellbeing both physical and emotional.
- Effectiveness as a professional role model for the students and young physicians responsible for the care of future generations.
- Sense of civic responsibility through active participation in groups or organizations concerned with the health and well-being of North Carolina’s citizens.
Nominations will be reviewed by the MSPEC. The awards will be granted to physicians based on both the strength/number of nominations, as well as the physician’s performance with respects to quality care metrics and announced at the Medical Staff Executive Committee meeting and communicated across UNC Hospitals.
Nominations may be made by UNC Health Care teammates, members of the medical staff and house staff and should be submitted to Amber.Ellixson@unchealth.unc.edu by Friday, Nov. 21, 2025.
