Do you know an educator who inspires students, mentors trainees, or makes a lasting impact in the classroom or clinical learning environment? The UNC School of Medicine Academy of Educators (AOE) invites nominations for its Teaching Awards, which recognize excellence in medical and biomedical education.

These awards celebrate outstanding teaching and highlight the critical role educators play in shaping the next generation of physicians and scientists. An AOE Teaching Award can strengthen an educator’s teaching portfolio, support promotion and tenure, and contribute toward membership in the Academy of Educators.

Anyone can nominate — faculty, staff, and students from the UNC School of Medicine and surrounding AHEC sites. Educators are also encouraged to self-nominate by assembling their materials and requesting supporting letters.

Nomination deadline: April 1, 2026

Faculty committed to advancing medical education are also encouraged to apply for membership in the Academy of Educators:

Teaching award recipients and new members will be recognized at the AOE Evening of Scholarship on June 4, 2026, celebrating the Academy’s 20th anniversary.
