Associate Dean for Finance and Business Operations Patsy Oliver has announced her plans to retire. Oliver will retire on Jan. 31, 2023, after nearly 40 years of service to the University and the School of Medicine.
Oliver joined the UNC School of Medicine in 2001 and has served in many roles during her time with the University. Oliver served as a systems accountant, accounting manager, and the UNC School of Medicine controller. She was named Assistant Dean in 2007.
“Patsy has an immeasurable amount of institutional knowledge and expertise from her years of service to the School of Medicine. She is a strong leader, a trusted advisor, and a dear friend to so many of us. On a more personal note, Patsy graciously welcomed me to the UNC family when I came on board in 2017 and her support for me has been unparalleled in my career. I will miss her immensely, both personally and professionally,” said UNC School of Medicine Chief Financial Officer Michael Sledge.
Oliver holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business from Elon University and in April 2010 was awarded the C. Knox Massey Distinguished Service Award for her contributions to UNC-Chapel Hill.
