The Science of Medicine (SOM) course is longitudinal and explores the steps of basic research, translational research, clinical research, including dissemination, and implementation. The course also reviews the ethics of science, funding, and publication. The School of Medicine is seeking an Assistant Course Director to support the course through assessment grading, learner feedback, and participation in key course activities beginning Aug 1st. Brief applications are due by 5pm on June 12, 2026.
Science of Medicine Position Description
Title: Assistant Course Director
FTE: 0.05
Role Summary:
Supports the MS4 Science of Medicine course through assessment grading, learner feedback, and participation in key course activities.
Responsibilities:
  • Grade written literature reviews, AI assignments, and video presentations for approximately 50% of enrolled students within established timelines
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students aligned with course rubrics and expectations
  • Contribute to course operations by reviewing and responding to student discussion forum posts related to topic selection
  • Attend and participate in required course events, including the Evening of Scholarship
  • Collaborate with the Course Director to ensure consistency in grading and feedback
