Joan Taylor, PhD, professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicinhas been selected to serve as Director of Faculty Advancement for Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development. She will begin work in her new role on March 1.

In this new role, Taylor will provide leadership and development for the Faculty Affairs Liaisons, disseminate APT resources, serve as a liaison to the basic science departments, participate in FALD’s strategic planning to ensure the inclusion of appropriate plans for faculty career development and collaborate with the entire FALD team.

In addition to serving as professor in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department, Taylor also serves as the department’s Vice Chair for Research. Taylor has served in numerous leadership roles in her more than 20 years at the UNC School of Medicine, including several years as associate director of the McAllister Heart Institute. She earned her BS and her PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
