The Association for Professional Women in Medical Sciences (APWIMS) provides a platform for the professional growth of women at the UNC School of Medicine. APWIMS is dedicated to empowering women throughout the SOM and is currently seeking nominations for their leadership council.

This council will help shape the direction of the organization, provide a voice for women in the SOM, and develop timely programming to meet the professional needs of women in medical sciences.

APWIMS welcomes diverse perspectives and experiences and encourages nominations for women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and commitment to fostering exclusivity and the passion for empowering others. Nominees should demonstrate a track record of professional excellence, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaboratively work in a team environment.

Submit your nominations via Qualtrics by June 23.

Event spotlight:

APWIMS hosted Powering Up: Leveraging Networks for Success on May 25.  This transformative networking workshop was taught by dynamic, expert speakers Mabel Miguel, PhD, director of the Kenan-Flagler Business School Global Business Center, and Christina Shenvi, MD, PhD, MBA, president of APWIMS and director of the Office of Academic Excellence. Learners discovered the tools to strengthen their network through the creation of opportunities.
