UNC Department of Surgery Associate Chair for Administration Joellen Buckio, MHA, has announced that she will retire in July.
Buckio joined the department as ACA in 2012, following 12 years with UNC Physicians.
“During her years as ACA, Joellen has made remarkable and lasting contributions to the department. She has been the stabilizing cornerstone of our department for years and she has made an indelible impact which will be felt for decades to come,” said Department of Surgery Chair Caprice Greenberg, MD, MPH. “Her calm demeanor, business acumen, and unwavering commitment are felt be each of us daily and will be greatly missed.”
The department will launch a national search to identify a successor.
