Dr. Gwynne trained at UNC and has been a faculty clinician educator within the UNC Department of Family Medicine for the past 20 years. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Gwynne has worked collaboratively with many colleagues across the UNC School of Medicine, UNC Hospitals and UNC Health to improve clinical quality and equitable access to care, while building clinical infrastructure to meet the needs of all populations and communities UNC serves. Dr. Gwynne maintains his clinical practice within UNC Family Medicine.

Dr. Gwynne will remain in his role with the UNC Health Alliance while serving as Interim President of UNC Faculty Physicians.

Earlier this summer, we shared that after more than a decade as the leader of the Faculty Practice, Dr. Matt Mauro, MD, was returning to academic practice in the UNC School of Medicine.

A national search, led by Dr. Stephanie Davis, MD, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the UNC School of Medicine, and Janet Hadar, President of UNC Hospitals, is already underway.

Please join us in thanking Dr. Gwynne for taking on this important role and thanking Dr. Mauro for his leadership and service to FP.
