The UNC School of Medicine is excited to announce the upcoming funding opportunity for Translational Team Science Awards (TTSA), a key initiative of the SOM Strategic Plan. These awards are designed to leverage UNC’s strong culture of collaboration by fostering new interdisciplinary teams that bridge basic science and clinical research.

What’s the goal?
TTSA supports early-stage, de novo research teams working across disciplines to develop innovative projects that can ultimately lead to program project grants and multiple PI R01s. Projects are not limited to human subjects—cellular and animal model systems are welcome—provided they translate across basic and clinical domains.

Award Structure:

  • Phase I Feasibility Grants: 12-month planning period to build team synergy and prepare a competitive Phase II proposal.
  • Phase II Awards: Additional 12 months for teams demonstrating strong progress and merit.

Deadline:
Submit your proposals by January 30, 2025.
