Sherry Ross, MD, has been named the Associate Dean for Outreach Initiatives at the UNC School of Medicine. She will officially begin her new role on January 1, 2026.
Dr. Ross currently serves as an associate professor and chief of the pediatric urology division. Prior to joining the Department of Urology at UNC in June 2014, she was an assistant professor of surgery and pediatrics, director of research in pediatric urology, and director of the pediatric stone clinic at Duke University.
In her new position as associate dean, Dr. Ross will lead the School of Medicine’s efforts to strengthen academic integration among UNC, Novant, New Hanover, and SEAHEC in southeastern North Carolina. These partnerships offer valuable learning experiences for our students and support our mission of education, research, and service throughout the state.
Dr. Ross earned her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University and received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She completed her urology residency at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and her pediatric urology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center, also in Washington, DC.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to Mike Steiner for his dedicated service in this role since 2020, especially for his leadership in building the UNC-Novant-New Hanover Regional Medical Center partnership.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ross on this exciting new chapter!
