School of Medicine faculty members Lauren Burke, MD, and Tim Eckard, PhD, DPT, have been selected as faculty liaisons.

Faculty liaisons are crucial members of the UNC School of Medicine alumni team, which aims to foster connections and engagement among alumni, faculty, students and friends while securing philanthropic investments to advance the goals, educational impact, and success of the UNC School of Medicine.

Lauren Burke is the vice chair of enterprise imaging integration and professor in the department of radiology. Dr. Burke completed her medical school training and diagnostic radiology residency at UNC. Subsequently, she completed her abdominal imaging fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.  She has been on faculty at UNC since 2013 and serves on several committees across the hospital and university as well as held prior administrative roles including executive vice chair and abdominal imaging division chief.
Tim Eckard is the current director and Margaret Moore Distinguished Professor in the department of health sciences’ division of physical therapy. He practiced as a physical therapist for six years in the US Army before enrolling in the Human Movement Science PhD program in the UNC School of Medicine in 2015. After graduating, he spent six years on the DPT faculty of Western Carolina University before returning to Chapel Hill to serve in his current role.

As faculty liaisons, they will be responsible for broadening the reach of the School of Medicine’s alumni outreach efforts by building mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships across UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health departments and divisions and among alumni and donor constituencies. The alumni faculty liaison also serves as a voice and champion for alumni activities across the enterprise.
