When considering purchasing new equipment, consider options offered through the Carolina Computing Initiative. Industry best practice suggests replacing computing equipment older than five years. UNC’s standard equipment suggestions are available through the CCI program at cci.unc.edu, which are fully compliant with UNC data security and networking policies. In times where existing departmental equipment is insufficient for a demand, new equipment and/or supplies can be purchased through authorized departmental procurement personnel in BuyCarolina. BuyCarolina provides a catalogue of University contracted vendors including Amazon, CDW, Dell, Lenovo, Staples, and more. Help maintain a consistent technological experience across the School of Medicine by ensuring the equipment used or purchased can be configured in compliance with UNC data security and networking policies. The School of Medicine I.T. Department’s Client Services and Support team is available for advice on and support for most hardware purchases, installations, and repairs.
