During the application phase, students will rotate in the adult and pediatric Emergency Departments during their CBLC course. The goals for this experience are as follows:

  1. to gain exposure to the acute care of children and adults
  2. to start to learn to develop a differential diagnosis that includes potential life threats high on the list
  3. to learn about the immediate workup and stabilization of patients with acute illnesses and injuries
  4. to understand the role of the ED in the healthcare system.

There will be much more information available on the CBLC course Sakai site. Please refer there for scheduling instructions, online learning resources, and lecture slides.

Christina Shenvi, MD, PhD, is the director of the Application Phase EM rotation. Feel free to contact her with questions.
