Consultation-Liaison Fellowship Application Requirements

Thank you for your interest in applying to the UNC Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship Program! The program begins to accept applications for PGY-5 positions starting the July prior to the academic year for which the candidate is applying, and applications must be completed by November 1st. Once we have received your file, your application will receive careful consideration for an invitation to interview.

For the 2023-2024 fellowship application year, the UNC Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry fellowship is excited to announce that we are accepting applications either through ERAS, or directly via email using the ACLP common application. All applications will be reviewed and considered equally regardless of how the application is submitted. Our goal is to make the application process as inclusive and smooth as possible for everyone. We will continue to participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

For more information on CL Psychiatry fellowships, please visit ACLP’s website: Information for Psychiatry Residents

For further information on ERAS and submission timelines, please review the following website: ERAS Fellowship Timeline

To obtain your ERAS token: ERAS Token

For applicants submitting by email, the ACLP common application can be found here: ACLP Fellowship Common Application. Completed applications should be emailed to Taryn Hardy (taryn_hardy@med.unc.edu). Please have your letters of recommendation emailed directly to Ms. Hardy by the authors.

Please consider the following as you complete your application:

  1. We encourage personal statements to address your experience and interest in CL Psychiatry along with how the UNC Fellowship appeals to your educational goals.
  2. Official ECFMG Certificates are required for all international medical graduates.
    1. Applicants must have completed an accredited residency in general adult psychiatry.
    2. Applicants must have a J-1 visa as UNC Health Care does not sponsor H-1B visas.
  3. You are welcome to submit an optional writing sample(s) as a supplement to your application. These may include but are not limited to a case report, research paper, or literature review.

Interviews

In accordance with recommendations from the ACLP Executive Committee, AADPRT, and AAMC, we will continue to host virtual interviews during Fridays in October. Applicants are invited to join an interactive day consisting of an program information session; interviews with the program director, CL faculty members, and a current fellow; attendance at our weekly CL Case Conference; Q&A session with current fellows; and an optional “virtual happy hour” to get to know our faculty and fellows in a more casual setting.
