Our team has the expertise and experience to treat adults and children with both minor and complex disorders of the ear. We offer a multidisciplinary team approach comprised of audiologists, skull base surgeons, nurses and a full research team. The Division of Otology, Neurotology and Lateral Skull Base Surgery is a leader in research and clinical trials. We have an outstanding international reputation with an abundance of faculty lectures in Europe and South America.

The Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at UNC established the neurotology fellowship in 2011 which became formally accredited by the ACGME in 2019, under the directorship of Kevin Brown, MD, PhD. The fellowship is a two-year program in which trainees are exposed to all aspects of otology, neurotology and lateral skull base surgery. The fellowship generally accepts 1 applicant every other year; the next position will be available July 1, 2021.
