UNC Health provides the best possible treatment of head and neck tumors, enlisting the expertise of the many medical specialists on your care team. Our goal is to cure head and neck cancer while maintaining optimal speech and swallowing function, and achieving the best possible cosmetic result.
The Head and Neck Oncology Program at UNC Health consists of ENT surgeons and neurosurgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, diagnostic and interventional radiologists, dentists, epidemiologists, prosthetic specialists, nutritionists, and speech and swallowing specialists.

Hazel Hampton, RN, BSN, CMSRN serves as our nurse navigator for our head and neck cancer patients. Hazel assists patients as they navigate through their complex treatment protocols and works closely with patients and their family members to ensure that they are well informed about the multiple treatment modalities utilized in modern cancer treatment.
