Publishing StatesThere are three workflow states: private, public draft, and published. By default, content items are always created in the private or public draft state. To publish a content item, simply click the private / public draft status indicator on the green menu bar and then select publish from the drop-down menu.
The item will be viewable on your site and in most instances will be listed in the navigation. In some cases, you may want to change a published item’s state back to the public draft state. This works well when you want to remove a page from public view temporarily. For instance, perhaps you intend to post your policies on your web site, but the policies are currently being revised. In this case, you could hide the policies page from public view until the policy is finalized. When you are ready, you can edit the hidden page and then make it available to the public again. To hide a page from public view, you simply change its publishing state, as follows:
You should change an items published state to public draft only when you want to temporarily remove a page from view. If you want to remove the page permanently, you should simply delete the page.
